How to Use Your Food Trailer’s Kitchen Equipment Step by Step (Without Risks)
👉 Why is it important to know how to properly use the kitchen equipment in your food trailer?
In a mobile kitchen, proper equipment usage ensures safety, efficiency, and fast operations. Misusing a fryer, burner, or valve can lead to:
Gas leaks
Ignition issues
Internal equipment damage
Safety risks for you or your staff
That’s why we’re sharing this easy guide based on real procedures explained by our technicians.
Steps to use the kitchen equipment in your food trailer
🔓 1. Open the safety valve properly
Locate the valve at the bottom of the trailer:
Horizontal = closed
Vertical = open
📌 Turn the valve to vertical to allow gas flow into the hoses and appliances.
🔥 2. Light the pilot
Locate the pilot inside the equipment and ignite it. In the video, you’ll see how the gas flows to the pilot after opening the valve, making it easy to light.
For appliances with multiple pilots (like grills or stoves):
Find the pilot hole
Light it while pressing and turning the knob
Then turn the knob to ignite the burner
🍟 3. How to light the fryer (takes a bit more patience)
This process is more specific:
Open the safety valve
Turn the pilot knob and hold it for 30 seconds
Listen for the gas and light the pilot
Keep the flame on for 10 more seconds
Release the knob
✅ If the flame stays on, switch the knob to ON and adjust the temperature slowly.
❌ If it doesn’t stay lit, repeat the process—it’s totally normal at first.
❌ 4. How to shut everything down correctly
Turn off the appliance knobs
Set the pilot knobs to OFF
Close the gas safety valve (set to horizontal)
This helps prevent leaks and keeps your equipment safe when not in use.
🧼 EXTRA TIP: Regularly check for leaks or malfunctions
Use soapy water to detect leaks in hose connections
If a pilot is hard to light or keeps turning off, contact a technician
Keep burners and pilot holes free of grease or debris
